What had Emilio and Angelo Cataldo bidding against each other?
The Canberra Variety of Chefs Degustation Dinner on 21 June challenged six of Australia’s top chefs to demonstrate their culinary skills in an interactive, live kitchen setup at the Hyatt Federation Ballroom. Every dish had to contain the key ingredient – chocolate – which explains the event’s tastebud-tingling name: Chocoliscious.
Headlining the event was internationally awarded Australian TV Celebrity Chef, Darren Simpson who was simply brilliant on the night. Challenging Darren were five other celebrity chefs including Masterchef 2013 dessert master, Kylie Millar, Corgette’s James Mussillon, the Hyatt’s Promenade Café’s internationally-reputed, Nitin Kumar and Alan Myburghv – who’s CV lists more than 40 of the world’s rich and famous, including many of Hollywood’s A-list and the Queen.
The night was a roaring success and raised over $30,000 for children with alopecia areata – a condition which causes unexplained hair loss.
Volunteers donated their hair on the night to make wigs for sufferers of alopecia areata. The cut ponytails were then auctioned to raise money. The fun-filled auction raised a lot of money and even had Emilio and Angelo Cataldo in a bidding war against each other!
Cataldo’s were proud to be part of such a positive and entertaining event and delighted it was such a success. Bring on Variety of Chefs 2014!
